The ASU Ju-Jitsu club currently practices in the Sun Devil Fitness Complex, at 400 E Apache Blvd, Tempe, AZ 85287. Class is held in Small Gym A, upstairs on the second floor. Thanks to ASU and the ASU students, this is an excellent facility, including changing rooms and showers.
The class meets Monday and Wednesday, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Students are expected to arrive slightly before the scheduled class time. Students do not need to attend every class session, but a certain amount of total attendance is required for rank testing at the end of a semester. While the class is open to ASU students and people completely unaffiliated with ASU, it does still follow a semester schedule. Registration opens for a few weeks at the start of every Fall and Spring semester, and the class follows a progressive curriculum through the semester. Drills, activities, and techniques from the start of the semester build to more complicated, more effective drills and techniques by the end of the semester. Every semester is different, and while the core skills within Ju-Jitsu never change, the activities used to teach those skills are always changing.
The next semester will be the Fall 2018 semester, with the first class on August 20th. The first week of the semester, August 20th through August 25th, is free for anyone to try. Registration will remain open for approximately the first four weeks of the semester.
